Player Biography

Sean started his career at Charlton Athletic before moving to English giants Manchester United in July 2009. During his two-year spell in Manchester, McGinty experienced four different loan spells at Morecambe, Oxford United, Carlisle United and Tranmere Rovers before signing for English League One side Sheffield United in the summer of 2013 at the age of 19.

Sean made his first team debut for Sheffield United in a 1-1 draw against Colchester United on the 17thAugust 2013 at Bramall Lane. However, following the arrival of Nigel Clough as the club’s new manager, McGinty’s first team opportunities seemed to be further limited which resulted in a move to Rochdale the following year.

Further spells were made in England at Aldershot Town in 2016 and Torquay United the following year where he made over 100 appearances between both clubs.

In the summer of 2019 Sean moved north to Scotland and signed a two-year deal at Scottish Championship club Partick Thistle. McGinty seemed to flourish in Thistle colours, becoming a favourite amongst the fans and was rewarded with the role of club captain the following year for his outstanding performances and leadership skills.

After 64 appearances at Firhill, Sean signed with Greenock Morton in January last year and since signing has been a key figure for the club both on and off the pitch.
