We are delighted to announce that Alan Lithgow has today signed with Greenock Morton on a contract until June 2023.

The former Livingston captain joins at Cappielow after five years in East Lothian where he was part of the Livingston team that won back-to-back promotions to the Scottish Premiership in 2018.

The central defender came through the youth ranks at Heart of Midlothian, making his professional debut in a 4-0 league cup win against Alloa Athletic in September 2006. His performances at Hearts also earned him a place in the Scotland Under 19’s.

After departing Tynecastle, Alan joined Clyde in 2008 where he made over 80 appearances over three seasons for the club. Further spells at Dumbarton, Ayr United, Stenhousemuir and Airdrie followed before he signed with Livingston in Scottish League One in May 2016.

Lithgow has achieved incredible success at Livingston and leaves with good memories after being a pivotal part of the team that took them to the Scottish Premiership for the first time since 2006.

After agreeing his move to Morton, Alan looks forward to a fresh start under manager Gus MacPherson.

Everyone at Superior Sports wishes Alan the best of luck at his new club.
