Lee Ashcroft scored a consolation goal when he headed home Dundee’s second of the afternoon.

Dundee had the chance to move above Livingston this afternoon and out of the relegation playoff position, however two first half goals from Celtic pegged back the home side before Danny Mullen pulled one back with a headed goal halfway through the first half.

A further two early second half goals from the visitors were a blow for McPake’s side as they faced an uphill task for the remainder of the match, however Celtic did concede a throw in on the left wing in the 67th minute and Lee Ashcroft was there to beat Joe Hart to Paul McMullan’s cross to head home a consolation goal for the hosts.

Dundee now sit four points ahead of Ross County with the latter having a game in hand at home to Hibernian. Next up for Ashcroft and Dundee in the Scottish Premiership is a home tie with Motherwell at Dens Park after the international break on the 27th November.
