After impressing in midweek against Wigan Athletic Under 23’s, Max joins up with the squad as he looks set to make his debut for the club against Warrington Town this afternoon. This will be the clubs second pre-season match as they work towards the league opener against Darlington on the 6th October at Mill Farm.
Having previously played for Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone, Max signed with the Lancashire club in hope of more first team opportunities. At the age of 22, Johnstone has an impressive CV having come through the youth academies of English giants Manchester United and Sunderland.
After putting pen to paper on Thursday, Max spoke of his delight on joining the club: “I’m buzzing to sign for Fylde and to be back in the football environment. It has been a long six months and I am excited to hopefully get a chance this season. Thanks to everyone at Superior Sports for getting me the opportunity and for getting the deal sorted.”
“I can’t wait for the season to start; it’s been a long time since I last played due to the lockdown. Hopefully, I can get minutes under my belt this season and help the team achieve promotion back to the National League.”
