Many congratulations to Calum Ferrie, Lee Ashcroft and Grant Savoury for their inclusion in this seasons SPFL Scottish Championship Team of the Season.
Calum Ferrie – The Queens goalkeeper made an incredible 135 saves in his 36 league appearances – the most in the division and full 38 more than second place Brian Schwake of Greenock Morton.
Ferrie kept a league-equalling 11 clean sheets across the campaign as the Spiders reached the Scottish Premiership playoff final.
Lee Ashcroft – Dundee defender Ashcroft played a big part in making the Dens men so hard to score against. The former Kilmarnock and Dunfermline defender made 42 appearances across the campaign, helping to keep 16 clean sheets in all competitions.
As well as his ability to defend his own box, Ashcroft has been a major threat in the opposition penalty area, scoring three times including that incredible last-day decider against Queen’s Park at Ochilview.
After agreeing a two-year extension with Dundee, Lee will be hoping to continue his fine form as the club prepare for topflight football under new manager Tony Docherty.
Grant Savoury – Grant enjoyed a brilliant first season in the Scottish Championship finding the night 10 times this year as Queen’s made a push for the league crown right up until the final day of the season.
Doubles against Hamilton Academical and Arbroath saw Grant awarded with the Player of the Month prize for December and his impressive form continued into 2023.
Congratulations to all three of our players on a very impressive season with their respective clubs and the best of luck for next season.
