Ashcroft Claims Player of the Year Awards

Congratulations to Lee Ashcroft who has won the Andrew De Vries Player of the Year award and the Player’s Player of the Year for this season.

Ashcroft picked up an incredible 16 individual awards to win the overall trophy after an outstanding season as Dundee hosted their end of season awards ceremony remotely this afternoon. Lee’s teammates also selected him for the Player’s Player of the Year as he became the third player to win both awards in the same season since the Player’s Player award was introduced back into 2016.

Lee joined the ‘dark blues’ in the summer of last season and has appeared 29 times for the club this campaign. Not only has he been solid in the heart of the Dundee defence, but he has also added goals to his game claiming six so far this season.

After an impressive first season at Dens Park Lee spoke of his delight at winning his awards: “I’m absolutely delighted. Obviously, it has been a tough year, it has been different, but to get the two awards is good.

“I’ve played here in the past and know there is a good following at the club, I’ve seen things online as well. I am absolutely chuffed that the fans have voted for me. It’s been a tough year, we had a tough start to the season, me personally as well, so to come through that shaky spell and be on a good run of form just now at the right time hopefully going into the playoffs.”

Everyone at Superior Sports congratulates Lee on his awards and wishes himself and Dundee the best of luck in the Scottish Premiership Playoffs.
