A successful manager and coach, John is currently available to clubs after returning home to Britain from a trophy-winning stint in the U.S.A with Houston Dynamo and then the Portland Timbers.
Somewhat surprisingly John was only capped 14 times for Scotland in a senior playing career that took in Rangers, Chelsea, Q.P.R. and Everton, and included several multi-million-pound moves.
John will also go down as one of the first Catholics ever to sign for Rangers and became brother-in-law to Rangers team-mate, and later Nottingham Forest, Derby and Preston manager Billy Davies.
