Following a successful playing career lasting nearly 20 years, which included 2 appearances for Scotland Under 21s and spells with Rangers, Newcastle United, Burnley and Greenock Morton, Brian took his first step into management when he went from player to coach with Ayr United in 2007.
In his 5 years at Ayr United, Brian won promotion from the second division twice before heading to the Philippines to manage Global FC and the Philippines Under 23 national side.
On his return to the UK, Brian became the manager of Nuneaton Town who played in the English Conference National before taking over at Scottish League One side Stranraer.
After leaving Stranraer in 2017, Brian joined up with Steven Pressley to be one of the coaches at Pafos FC, who play in the Cypriot First Division.
In June, 2020, Brian was appointed as the new manager of Albion Rovers.
